3 Months of Amazon Prime for free!

Amazon is offering a 3 month trial of Amazon prime for moms and caregivers. I’ve sent you to the slickdeals link because it gives you step by step instructions on how to make sure you do not end up automatically enrolled to pay 79 dollars at the end of 3 months.

I super enjoyed having amazon prime as a student. You get free two day shipping. Mommies can also save 20% on diapers and wipes mailed straight to their door with subscribe and save.

So, just thought I’d share. 🙂

Houseparty + Pinteresting

16 Apr

First, if you aren’t familiar with House Party, go to houseparty.com and sign up! I was first turned onto it by my sister, who registered me for a Wii party, and I got free video games! Awesome! Anyway, the way it works is different companies sponsor “house parties.”  You apply for parties you are interested in. If you are selected, you are sent a box of awesome party favors from the company.

This past weekend, I hosted a Weight Watchers Sweet Treats House Party. The theme was “me moments,” sort of advertising that weight watchers desserts are a great way to take time for yourself and indulge without the guilt. Anyway, I got onto pinterest and really ran with the idea of a light and fresh summery party to compliment the weight watchers desserts.

I served:

– strawberry mascarpone bruschetta

– triskets and home made red pepper hummus

– cucumber bites with homemade guacamole

– a fruit display

– homemade lemonade and limemade in mason jars

and of course the weight watchers desserts.

It was a lot of fun, and I was really pleased with how my food and decorations came out!  12 of my fave ladies came out for the party, and my friend Nancy took some great pictures, so here they are!

Picture Deal!

Music Deal + Movie Review: 21 Jump Street

9 Mar

First, another fabulous music deal. Lady Antebellum’s newest album, “Own the Night” is on sale at Amazon for 25 cents. I personally love Lady A., and one of my fav new songs is “Just a Kiss”… which is on this album! 12 songs+ digital booklet for 25 cents.

Now for the movie review. Last night, Alysha scored us passes to see an advance screening of 21 Jump Street. Now, if you’re thinking that sounds a litttttle familiar, it’s a remake of a 1987 movie starring Johnny Depp. Now, I admit, I have not seen the original. But the remake pokes a lot of light-hearted fun at the original movie, and the two lead actors from the original even do a cameo!

The premise of the movie is that two young, immature cops get sent undercover to a high school to take down a drug ring.  Channing Tatum plays a handsome yet intellectually challenged police officer while Jonah Hill plays his smart, yet nerdy partner. When they get sent into the high school some 7+ years after they had graduated, everything is different. Somehow, Tatum ends up with the nerds and Hill ends up with the cool kids. Because in this modern day, the cool kids are the kids who are environmentally aware and care about things.

In the end, Hill gets a big head from hanging out with the cool kids and has a huge fight with Tatum.

Anyway, the plot was predictable, but it was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a very long time. There is one scene where the slapstick humor goes a  too far, and if you watch the movie, you will know exactly which scene it is. Other than that scene, it was hilarious!  And, of course, I am a Channing Tatum fan so that was a gigantic bonus.

If you like slapstick humor that pokes fun at high school and a Johnny Depp movie, then this movie is definitely for you.

I wish I had seen the original before seeing this one, but I think when they are on DVD I will rent both and watch them back to back. 🙂

Oh by the way, in case you haven’t picked up on it… I’m on SPRING BREAK!!! Hanging out with my sister today, watching the Representation in Mediation team compete at regionals at OSU tomorrow, and then doing some back and forth to Cville and Florence KY for various reasons which I am sure I’ll write more about later so I’ll leave it at that for now. 🙂

Real Simple + Cooking Light Magazine Deal.. and somehow I wrote 100 posts!

28 Feb

First, because deal sites are super popular, there is one for Moms called mamapedia. Now I know what you are thinking, “but Sasha, you aren’t a Mom!” Very true. But I do have nephews and a niece, and I have gotten great deals on stuff for them.

AND TODAYS DEAL ROCKS MY SOCKS OFF! 1 year of Cooking Light magazine and 1 year of Real Simple magazine for only 20 dollars! Amazing!  I first became familiar with Real Simple when my SIL gave me her collection of old copies. If you like organization, or, if you hate it and need ideas, this magazine rocks. Anyway, I bought the deal. If you are interested, please by it with my beautiful link so that I will get a ten dollar credit and be able to buy more things. 🙂
