First, another fabulous music deal. Lady Antebellum’s newest album, “Own the Night” is on sale at Amazon for 25 cents. I personally love Lady A., and one of my fav new songs is “Just a Kiss”… which is on this album! 12 songs+ digital booklet for 25 cents.
Now for the movie review. Last night, Alysha scored us passes to see an advance screening of 21 Jump Street. Now, if you’re thinking that sounds a litttttle familiar, it’s a remake of a 1987 movie starring Johnny Depp. Now, I admit, I have not seen the original. But the remake pokes a lot of light-hearted fun at the original movie, and the two lead actors from the original even do a cameo!
The premise of the movie is that two young, immature cops get sent undercover to a high school to take down a drug ring. Â Channing Tatum plays a handsome yet intellectually challenged police officer while Jonah Hill plays his smart, yet nerdy partner. When they get sent into the high school some 7+ years after they had graduated, everything is different. Somehow, Tatum ends up with the nerds and Hill ends up with the cool kids. Because in this modern day, the cool kids are the kids who are environmentally aware and care about things.
In the end, Hill gets a big head from hanging out with the cool kids and has a huge fight with Tatum.
Anyway, the plot was predictable, but it was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a very long time. There is one scene where the slapstick humor goes a  too far, and if you watch the movie, you will know exactly which scene it is. Other than that scene, it was hilarious!  And, of course, I am a Channing Tatum fan so that was a gigantic bonus.
If you like slapstick humor that pokes fun at high school and a Johnny Depp movie, then this movie is definitely for you.
I wish I had seen the original before seeing this one, but I think when they are on DVD I will rent both and watch them back to back. 🙂
Oh by the way, in case you haven’t picked up on it… I’m on SPRING BREAK!!! Hanging out with my sister today, watching the Representation in Mediation team compete at regionals at OSU tomorrow, and then doing some back and forth to Cville and Florence KY for various reasons which I am sure I’ll write more about later so I’ll leave it at that for now. 🙂
