On SOPA

18 Jan

First of all, if you haven’t heard of SOPA, you probably live in a hole, or are over 80, and most likely are not even reading this blog.

I’m sure lots of people have heard of SOPA and have no idea what it is except some thing that made wikipedia go black today.  So if you want more info, go here: https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

Since obviously google is the most reliable source of information I could think of .. cough cough.

But, seriously, it’s a serious issue.

It’s an issue that affects social networking, internet media, intellectual property, personal liberty, etc etc.

Everything (and I do mean everything) is on the internet these days. Most of us wouldn’t know what to do without it. How do I cook without recipes.com ? How do I get somewhere without google maps?  How do I watch tv without Hulu or Youtube? How do I know what’s going on in the world without online news? How do I know who had whose baby without facebook?

I’m obviously being a little humorous. But let’s not let the government have that much control over what we can do and what we can see. Let’s keep free speech alive on the internet and protest SOPA.

I know I’ve spent very little time talking about the technicalities of the bill.. mostly because I still have homework to do tonight and only have time to point out an issue and then make some sarcastic/funny comments about it. But also because hundreds of other websites have done a much better job of highlighting the issues and analyzing the bill. So if you want to know more, don’t take me as your source of info, go out and find real information.

Atleast it’s still out there and available on the internet for now…;)
